Press Releasein Industry News

Ed Gilbert handing over Supertrencher+ 760 to David Figgins Barrett (Business Manager) Having used Shelton machinery on many occasions, including using the Shelton 560 on the highly successful construction of a new football pitch for Welsh 1st Division side Cefn Druids FC this summer, SGC added the Supertrencher to the top of their wish list.

Stephen Thomson, Senior Site Manager said, "The Shelton 560 gave a superb finish along with the Fast Flow Gravel Hopper. We just needed a solid reason to upgrade and the new contract for drainage at Hoylake GC provided this."

SGC Group has just been granted the contract to install an extensive primary and secondary drainage system at Hoylake, including drainage to 11 fairways and the practice area.

Stephen Senior, MD said "As soon as we had the contract for Hoylake, I called Ed from Shelton's to start negotiations. When he said that they had the new Supertrencher+760 on display at Saltex, we made it a priority to go to see it for ourselves."

We were immediately impressed with the Shelton Supertrencher+ 760 and the 6 tonne Fast Flow Gravel Hopper which are both award winning pieces of machinery and represent the latest and best equipment available today. Shelton have redesigned the previous generation of machinery with only one purpose in mind, to increase productivity and improve the operator experience and the machines live up to their reputation.

The supertrencher combines loads of new features including new materials, advanced manufacturing techniques, new two speed digging wheels to compensate for varying soil conditions, an improved transverse conveyor layout which minimises the chance of blockages and a redesigned digging wheel assembly which reduces the time taken to change worn cutters.

The six tonne Fast Flow Gravel Hopper is no less impressive and has eliminated what was before a slow and tedious job. It is capable of back filling trenches from 50mm wide upwards at forward speeds of 5-6 miles per hour. One operator can place gravel, Lytag and sand with virtually no spillage. The optional rear view camera and tractor cab mounted screen provides our driver with a clear view of the work without the need to be constantly looking over his shoulder.

Delivery of the Shelton ST+760 and a 6T Fast Flow Gravel and Sand Hopper was made to site within two weeks and the machines are already giving great results. We believe that our productivity has increased by at least 50%.

"This purchase along with our Koro Top Drain gives us an industry leading package of primary and secondary drainage machinery suitable for many sports applications" concluded Stephen Senior.
