New greenskeeper shed officially opened at Taunton & Pickeridge
The official opening of the new Greenkeepers Shed took place at Taunton and Pickeridge ahead of the formalities of the Past Captains putt out and Captains Drive In.
The new shed is dedicated to John Attree, who performed the ceremonial opening in front of gathering of members of the club.
Although the weather was disappointing the past Captains Putt Out took place on 18th Green and the Four New Captains Drive In went off well with a good gathering of members were present.
Unfortunately, seniors captain Frank Kirkham was unable to attend to mark his drive in due to illness and his place was taken by his vcie captain Barry Warburton.
The Captains Drive-In Charity event (guess the total yardage of all Four Drives which added up to 638 yards ) took place and raised £86.
In addition to which Ladies Captain, Georgia Richards arranged an Easter Egg Extravaganza for the chosen charity which was drawn on the afternoon of the drive in, which raised over £300.00.
The Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club's 31st Pro-Am takes place on Friday 14th July 2023 with over forty South-West professional golfers competing. This year's prize fund has a new look with every professional guaranteed a minimum £150, and the top 3 professionals receiving prize monies of £450, £350 and £250. Amateur players will compete for the amateurs' prize table, with team prizes to at least 4th place, and several individual hole prizes to be won.
The Pro-Am is an opportunity for Club Captain, Kevin Jackson, and Ladies' Captain, Georgia Richards, to raise funds for their chosen charity, Green Days Day Care.
This local charity with venues at Wellington, Taunton, Huish Champflower, Bishops Lydeard and Bridgwater, provides a personal centred service for adults with a range of learning disabilities, including autism, which can affect or delay social, emotional or educational/work skills development.
Application forms for team entry are available from the Club Office (01823 421537) or can be downloaded from the Club website. Book early to avoid disappointment!
